Welcome

Thanks for stopping by my corner of the web. I am an educator/musician/software developer from Oro-Medonte, Ontario, Canada, about an hour north of Toronto. This web domain exists primarily as a location to host material to supplement my teaching, and to test drive various web apps I am working on.

Some Quick Fact About Me

  • I currently teach in the music and computer technology departments at Eastview Secondary School in Barrie.

  • I live with my wife, Kelly, and daughters Savannah and Erica (born 2014 and 2016) in the village of Hawkestone.

  • I graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2005 with a Computer Science degree specializing in Bioinformatics, and from Nipissing University in 2006 with an Education degree.

  • Long term software project: In my (fairly limited) spare time, I am working on developing a variant of the Python programming language intended to ease the transition for beginner programming students from a graphical programming interface such as Scratch to a mainstream programming language.

  • I play piano and trumpet, and am passionate about choral music. I am a proud former member of the Cellar Singers, Baytowne Big Band, and Toronto Children's Chorus. While I have decided to take a hiatus from community music ensembles while raising a young family, I look forward to my eventual return in the future.
